Job Description

TotalEnergies EP Nigeria is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Governance Specialist to join our team in Bori, Rivers State. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing and implementing our data governance framework, ensuring data quality, integrity, and compliance. This is a hands-on role requiring a strong understanding of data management principles, data quality methodologies, and regulatory compliance requirements within the energy sector. You will work closely with various stakeholders across the organization to define data governance policies, processes, and standards. The role involves leading data quality initiatives, conducting data audits, and providing training and support to data stewards. You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining data governance documentation, including data dictionaries, data lineage, and data quality metrics. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with individuals from different backgrounds and levels within the organization. The ideal candidate is a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with a passion for data and a commitment to data integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement data governance policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Conduct regular data audits and assessments to ensure data quality and compliance.
  • Lead data quality improvement initiatives and projects.
  • Develop and maintain data governance documentation, including data dictionaries and data lineage.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to define data governance requirements.
  • Provide training and support to data stewards and other data users.
  • Monitor and report on data governance metrics and KPIs.
  • Stay current on data governance best practices and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of data governance principles and best practices.
  • Experience with data quality methodologies and tools.
  • Proficiency in data modeling and database management.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in the energy sector is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data governance or a related role.
  • Experience with data governance tools and technologies.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM).
