Job Description

OSEMA is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Emergency Services Coordinator to join our dedicated team at the Ore Field Office. This pivotal role involves overseeing and coordinating all emergency response activities within the Ore locality, working closely with local authorities, community organizations, and other emergency service providers. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and evaluating emergency preparedness plans, ensuring that OSEMA’s response to incidents is timely, effective, and well-organized across various potential scenarios. You will be responsible for meticulous resource management, leading emergency response teams directly during crises, conducting thorough risk assessments to anticipate challenges, and delivering impactful public awareness campaigns on disaster preparedness and safety protocols. This position demands a proactive individual with exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, capable of performing under intense pressure while maintaining a calm, authoritative, and compassionate presence. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive emergency preparedness and response plans specific to the Ore locality.
  • Coordinate resources and personnel during emergency situations, ensuring efficient deployment and effective incident management.
  • Liaise with local government officials, community leaders, security agencies, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to enhance inter-agency cooperation.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and identify potential hazards within the community, recommending mitigation strategies.
  • Organize and facilitate training exercises, drills, and workshops for staff, volunteers, and community members on emergency response protocols.
  • Manage and maintain emergency equipment, supplies, and facilities, ensuring they are always ready for deployment.
  • Compile and present reports on emergency incidents, response effectiveness, and post-incident analysis.
  • Lead public awareness and education campaigns to promote disaster preparedness and safety measures among residents.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for emergency calls and inquiries during designated shifts or incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant state and national emergency management policies and regulations.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in emergency management, disaster response, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience leading diverse teams under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, especially in high-stress environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with emergency management software.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as emergency situations demand.
  • Deep understanding of local geography and community dynamics within Ore, Ondo State.
  • Valid Nigerian driving license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Disaster Management, Social Sciences, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Certification in Incident Command System (ICS) or other recognized emergency management frameworks.
  • First Aid, CPR, and Basic Life Support certifications.
  • Fluency in Yoruba language (an added advantage).
  • Previous experience working with government agencies or non-governmental organizations in emergency response.
