Key Responsibilities
- Safely and responsibly walk dogs of various breeds, sizes, and temperaments in groups or individually.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all dogs under your care, including proper leash handling and supervision.
- Adhere to agreed-upon routes, timings, and client instructions for each dog.
- Administer basic first aid to dogs if necessary (training provided).
- Maintain cleanliness by promptly and properly disposing of dog waste.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with dog owners, providing updates on their pets' walks and any observed behaviours or concerns.
- Keep accurate records of walks, including duration, distance, and any notable incidents.
- Ensure dogs are returned home safely, happy, and clean (wiping paws as needed).
- Handle all weather conditions with appropriate gear and ensure dogs' comfort.
- Adhere to all local regulations regarding dog walking and public spaces.
Required Skills
- Genuine love and passion for dogs and animal welfare.
- Reliability and punctuality are paramount.
- Excellent physical fitness and ability to walk for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule.
- Responsible and trustworthy nature.
- Knowledge of basic dog behaviour and safety.
- Valid UK driving license and access to a reliable vehicle (preferred but not essential for all roles).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous professional experience in dog walking, pet sitting, or animal care.
- Certification in Pet First Aid and CPR.
- Knowledge of local Eastbourne parks, walking trails, and pet-friendly areas.
- Experience handling multiple dogs simultaneously.
- A clean DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
