As a Learning Support Assistant at Dover College, you will play a crucial role in empowering students with varying learning needs, including those with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs) such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, and ADHD, to fully access the curriculum, build self-confidence, and develop essential independent learning strategies. You will work closely with our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo), class teachers, and other support staff to deliver tailored interventions, both in small groups and on a one-to-one basis, ensuring that each student receives the bespoke support they require to flourish. Your daily contributions will involve adapting learning materials, providing targeted assistance during lessons, and meticulously tracking student progress to inform future support plans. Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with identified learning needs, both in and out of the classroom.
- Assist students in accessing the curriculum and completing tasks, adapting materials as necessary.
- Collaborate with the SENCo and teaching staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and review student progress.
- Help foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting student independence and self-esteem.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and the SENCo.
- Support students' social and emotional development, encouraging positive interactions with peers and staff.
- Assist with the preparation of resources and learning materials tailored to individual student needs.
- Undertake playground and lunch duties as required.
- Participate in relevant professional development opportunities and staff meetings.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly with children and young people.

Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, or a relevant equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience working with children or young people, especially those with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Knowledge of various learning difficulties (e.g., dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD) and strategies to support them.
- First Aid qualification.
