We are actively seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Construction Painter to join our dynamic and expanding team in Dutsin-Ma. As a pivotal member of our construction crew, you will play a crucial role in the final stages of our diverse construction projects, transforming raw structures into aesthetically pleasing, protective, and durable spaces. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare various types of surfaces for painting by thoroughly cleaning, sanding, scraping, patching, and filling cracks and holes to ensure a smooth, uniform, and optimal foundation for paint application.
- Accurately mix, match, and apply paints, varnishes, stains, and other protective and decorative finishes using a diverse range of tools including brushes, rollers, and spray equipment, ensuring adherence to specified colors, textures, and finish requirements.
- Safely and efficiently set up, operate, and dismantle scaffolding, ladders, and other access equipment, strictly ensuring full compliance with all established health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Meticulously protect adjacent surfaces, fixtures, and non-painted areas from accidental paint splatters, drips, and overspray by effectively covering them with drop cloths, masking tape, and plastic sheeting.
- Thoroughly inspect all finished surfaces for quality, rectifying any imperfections, inconsistencies, or defects to achieve a professional, uniform, and high-quality appearance that meets project specifications.
- Perform regular maintenance and thorough cleaning of all painting tools, brushes, rollers, sprayers, and equipment to ensure their longevity, optimal performance, and readiness for future use.
- Accurately estimate material requirements for assigned tasks and effectively communicate these needs to supervisors to prevent potential project delays and ensure efficient resource management.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including the mandatory and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times to maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate effectively and professionally with other construction trades and team members to ensure seamless project progression, coordinated efforts, and timely completion of all construction phases.
Required Skills
- Proven practical experience in construction painting, demonstrating a strong understanding of surface preparation techniques, application methods, and various finishing processes.
- Proficiency in utilizing a variety of painting tools and equipment, including but not limited to brushes, rollers, airless sprayers, and the safe operation of scaffolding and ladders.
- Strong foundational understanding of different paint types (e.g., oil-based, water-based), primers, sealers, and their appropriate application methods for various surfaces and environmental conditions.
- Exceptional ability to accurately mix and match colors, and to apply finishes with precision, consistency, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Comprehensive knowledge of safety protocols and best practices in a construction environment, including fall protection, hazardous material handling, and safe work-at-heights procedures.
- Demonstrated physical stamina, agility, and dexterity to perform demanding construction tasks, which include prolonged standing, bending, climbing, and the ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as an integral part of a larger construction team.
- Reliable, punctual, and highly committed to consistently delivering high-quality workmanship on all projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a formal vocational training program, trade school, or a recognized apprenticeship in painting or a closely related construction trade.
- Certification in occupational safety and health (e.g., local equivalent of OSHA or NEBOSH training) is highly advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience with specialized painting techniques such as decorative finishes, faux painting, or industrial coatings.
- Basic knowledge of carpentry or plastering for minor repair work and surface preparation before painting.
