Job Description
Intelect UK is seeking a highly skilled and motivated HVAC Engineer to join our growing team in Middlesbrough. As an HVAC Engineer, you will be instrumental in the design, development, and implementation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, ensuring optimal performance, energy efficiency, and compliance with all relevant industry standards and regulations.
Your role will involve working closely with clients, project managers, and other engineering disciplines to deliver comprehensive building services solutions. You will be responsible for conducting site surveys, producing detailed technical specifications, selecting appropriate equipment, and overseeing the installation and commissioning phases. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop HVAC systems for industrial, commercial, and marine applications, adhering to project specifications, budget, and timeline.
- Conduct detailed calculations for heating and cooling loads, air flow rates, and ductwork/pipework sizing.
- Prepare comprehensive technical specifications, drawings (using CAD software), and equipment schedules.
- Perform site surveys, assessments, and inspections to gather necessary data and troubleshoot existing systems.
- Collaborate with architects, other engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure integrated and effective project delivery.
- Oversee the installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of HVAC systems.
- Ensure all designs and installations comply with relevant British Standards, CIBSE guidelines, building regulations, and health and safety legislation.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and project teams.
- Identify and implement energy-saving solutions and sustainable design practices.
- Manage project documentation, including reports, method statements, and risk assessments.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable experience in HVAC system design and project delivery.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP).
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles.
- In-depth knowledge of British Standards, CIBSE Guides, and Building Regulations relevant to HVAC.
- Experience with HVAC system commissioning and troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Valid UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards it.
- Experience with BIM (Building Information Modelling) software.
- Experience in the marine or heavy industrial sectors.
- Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and their integration with HVAC systems.
