Key Responsibilities
- Translate a variety of documents including technical, legal, business, and general communications from source to target language with precision and cultural sensitivity.
- Ensure linguistic accuracy, grammatical correctness, and stylistic consistency in all translated materials.
- Utilise translation memory (TM) tools, glossaries, and style guides to maintain consistency and efficiency.
- Conduct thorough research to verify terminology and ensure accurate portrayal of industry-specific concepts.
- Proofread and edit translations to eliminate errors and ensure high-quality final output.
- Meet project deadlines and manage workload effectively.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all sensitive information and documents.
- Communicate proactively with project managers regarding any challenges or clarifications needed.
Required Skills
- Native-level fluency in at least two languages (e.g., English and isiZulu, English and Portuguese, etc.)
- Proven experience with Translation Memory (TM) tools and CAT software (e.g., Trados, MemoQ, Wordfast).
- Exceptional written communication skills and a strong command of grammar, syntax, and punctuation in target languages.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field.
- Professional translation certification (e.g., SAIT, ATA, ITI).
- Specialisation in fields relevant to Transnet's operations (e.g., engineering, maritime, logistics, legal, finance, environmental studies).
- Experience translating for large corporate or government entities.
- Familiarity with various document formats and DTP tools.
