This is an exceptional opportunity to join a renowned organization and play a critical role in protecting high-value assets and ensuring the safety of tenants, visitors, and staff within a prime commercial property during day shifts.

As a Junior Security Officer, you will be on the front lines, embodying our commitment to excellence and proactive security. Your daily duties will involve a blend of regular patrols, meticulous monitoring, and professional interaction with individuals entering and exiting the premises. The commercial estate on Bourdillon Road is a hub of activity, housing various businesses and professionals, making the role dynamic and crucial. We are not just looking for someone to observe; we need an active participant in our security ecosystem—someone who can identify potential risks, respond calmly and effectively to minor incidents, and contribute positively to a secure and welcoming atmosphere. This position is ideal for individuals looking to kickstart or advance their career in professional security, offering hands-on experience in a high-profile setting and a clear pathway for growth within Halogen Security. If you are eager to learn, highly adaptable, and ready to be part of a team that defines security excellence, we encourage you to apply. This role offers exposure to best-in-class security protocols and the chance to contribute to the peace of mind of our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular, thorough patrols of the commercial estate, including all common areas, entrances, exits, and perimeters, identifying and reporting any suspicious activities or potential security breaches.
  • Monitor CCTV surveillance systems and alarm panels, promptly responding to any alerts or unusual observations and escalating critical issues to senior officers.
  • Manage access control points, ensuring only authorized personnel and vehicles enter the premises, meticulously verifying credentials, and issuing visitor passes.
  • Provide professional and courteous assistance to tenants, visitors, and staff, offering directions, answering inquiries, and ensuring a positive experience while maintaining security protocols.
  • Respond calmly and efficiently to minor security incidents, disturbances, or emergencies such as medical emergencies or fire alarms, following established procedures until further assistance arrives.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed logbooks, incident reports, and daily activity records, documenting all security-related occurrences and observations.
  • Enforce site-specific security policies and procedures, ensuring compliance from all individuals within the commercial estate.
  • Participate in regular training sessions and drills to enhance security knowledge, emergency response capabilities, and professional development.
  • Collaborate effectively with fellow security team members, property management staff, and emergency services as required.

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
  • High level of integrity, honesty, and professionalism.
  • Basic computer literacy for monitoring systems and report writing.
  • Physical fitness to perform regular patrols and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Reliability and punctuality for assigned shifts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a security-related role (e.g., corporate security, facility security) or relevant military/paramilitary background (6 months – 1 year).
  • Basic First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of standard security procedures and protocols.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Ability to speak basic local languages (e.g., Yoruba, Igbo) is an advantage.
