Job Description

We are seeking an inspiring, dynamic, and experienced Healthcare Manager to lead one of our esteemed care homes in Belfast, Northern Ireland. This pivotal role demands a visionary leader who is passionately committed to delivering exceptional care, capable of managing complex operations, and dedicated to fostering a positive and empowering environment for both residents and staff. As a Healthcare Manager, you will be entrusted with the overall strategic and operational leadership of the home, ensuring stringent compliance with all regulatory standards set by the RQIA (Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority), maintaining financial sustainability, and upholding the highest standards of clinical governance. You will be the cornerstone of our community within the home, acting as a crucial role model for your team, building strong and trusting relationships with residents and their families, and collaborating effectively with external stakeholders such as local authorities and healthcare professionals. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the care home, ensuring the delivery of outstanding, person-centred care in line with company values and regulatory requirements (RQIA).
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of the home, including staff recruitment, training, supervision, and performance management to build a cohesive and highly effective team.
  • Manage the home’s budget and financial performance, ensuring cost-effective service delivery without compromising care quality.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and clinical governance frameworks.
  • Develop and maintain strong, empathetic relationships with residents, their families, local authorities, and other external healthcare professionals.
  • Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives, regularly auditing services and implementing best practices to enhance resident outcomes.
  • Manage occupancy levels and marketing efforts to ensure the home's commercial viability and community integration.
  • Handle complaints and critical incidents effectively and promptly, ensuring transparency and appropriate resolution.
  • Facilitate and lead regular team meetings, fostering open communication, collaboration, and a supportive working culture.
  • Champion resident dignity, choice, and independence, promoting an engaging, stimulating, and therapeutic environment.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a senior management role within the healthcare or care home sector (minimum 5 years).
  • Sound knowledge of Northern Ireland's healthcare regulatory framework, particularly RQIA standards and requirements.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a strong ability to influence and inspire.
  • Strong financial management and budget control abilities, demonstrating commercial acumen.
  • Demonstrable ability to manage, motivate, and develop a diverse team towards common goals.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, even under pressure.
  • Proficiency in IT systems relevant to healthcare management and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A recognised healthcare qualification (e.g., Registered Nurse PIN) or a relevant Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care.
  • Experience in managing services specifically for older people or those living with dementia.
  • Further qualifications in business management or leadership (e.g., CMI, ILM).
  • A proactive and demonstrable approach to continuous professional development and learning.
