Job Description

Are you a skilled and experienced truck driver with a passion for logistics and a commitment to safe, timely deliveries? GIG Logistics, a leader in the Nigerian logistics industry, is looking for dedicated Truck Delivery Drivers to join our growing team in Maryland, Ikeja. In this critical role, you will be the backbone of our operations, ensuring that goods reach their destinations efficiently and securely across various routes within Lagos and potentially neighboring states. You will operate our company trucks to transport a wide range of goods, from parcels and documents to larger cargo, adhering strictly to delivery schedules and safety regulations.

You will be responsible for conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, loading and unloading goods (with assistance where necessary), maintaining accurate delivery records, and providing exceptional service to our clients. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate heavy-duty trucks (e.g., 5-ton, 10-ton, or articulated trucks) for the transportation of various goods.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring all mechanical, safety, and emergency components are in good working order.
  • Load, unload, and secure cargo, ensuring its integrity and safety during transit.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Plan and follow the most efficient routes for timely deliveries, navigating both urban and inter-state roads.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage, fuel consumption, delivery manifests, and any incidents.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
  • Provide exceptional customer service during pick-ups and deliveries, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Report any vehicle malfunctions, accidents, or traffic violations promptly to management.
  • Assist with warehouse duties when not on deliveries, including sorting and organizing packages.

Required Skills

  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (Class G/E or equivalent for heavy-duty vehicles in Nigeria).
  • Minimum of 2 years of verifiable professional truck driving experience.
  • Clean driving record with no major violations.
  • Proven knowledge of Lagos road networks and key inter-state routes.
  • Ability to operate manual and automatic transmission trucks.
  • Strong physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy packages (with assistance).
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to all traffic laws.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or Ordinary National Diploma (OND).
  • Experience with various types of trucks (e.g., box trucks, flatbeds, articulated vehicles).
  • Defensive driving certification.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs) or other logistics software.
