Job Description
Access Bank Plc is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Electrician for Building Maintenance to join our facilities management team in Victoria Island, Lagos. This vital role involves ensuring the continuous and safe operation of all electrical systems within our corporate facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of various electrical components, circuits, and equipment. You will play a critical role in upholding safety standards, preventing downtime, and contributing to the overall efficiency and comfort of our working environment. This position requires a proactive individual with a strong understanding of electrical codes, safety protocols, and a commitment to high-quality workmanship. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, generators, and HVAC electrical components.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults, breakdowns, and malfunctions in a timely and efficient manner.
- Install new electrical wiring, conduits, fixtures, and control equipment in accordance with relevant codes and specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections of electrical infrastructure to identify potential hazards, wear and tear, or non-compliance issues.
- Respond promptly to emergency electrical calls and execute immediate repairs to minimize disruption.
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repairs, and installations performed.
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations, company policies, and national electrical codes.
- Collaborate with other maintenance staff and external contractors on multidisciplinary projects.
- Provide technical guidance and support regarding electrical systems to facility management.
- Manage and maintain inventory of electrical parts and tools.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Electrician in a commercial or corporate facility.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical faults.
- Strong understanding of national electrical codes and safety standards (e.g., SON, IEC).
- Ability to use various electrical tools and testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, ammeters).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade Test Certificate I, II, or III in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
- Technical diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience with uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems and generators.
- Knowledge of building management systems (BMS) and automation.
- First aid and basic fire safety certification.
