Job Description
We are actively seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Experienced Mason / Bricklayer to join our dynamic construction team in Damaturu. As an integral part of our project delivery, you will be responsible for executing high-quality masonry work, ensuring precision, durability, and adherence to design specifications and safety standards. This role requires a professional with a strong understanding of various masonry techniques, materials, and tools, capable of working independently or as part of a larger crew on diverse construction projects, ranging from residential buildings to commercial structures and public infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess an unwavering commitment to craftsmanship, keen attention to detail, and a proven track record of delivering excellent results. You will interpret blueprints, measure, cut, and lay bricks, blocks, and other construction materials to create aesthetically pleasing and structurally sound walls, foundations, and other masonry structures. Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine materials required and installation procedures.
- Lay bricks, blocks, and other masonry units to construct or repair walls, partitions, arches, fireplaces, and other structures.
- Mix mortar, concrete, and other compounds according to specifications, ensuring proper consistency and strength.
- Cut and trim masonry units to fit around obstacles or to create special designs or angles.
- Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently, including levels, squares, trowels, hammers, chisels, saws, and grinders.
- Inspect finished work for quality, alignment, and adherence to building codes and standards.
- Clean and maintain tools and work areas, ensuring a safe and organized construction site.
- Collaborate effectively with other construction professionals, including carpenters, plumbers, and electricians.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Perform routine maintenance on completed masonry structures as required.
- Estimate material quantities and collaborate with supervisors on project planning.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Mason or Bricklayer in a professional construction setting.
- Proficiency in various masonry techniques, including bricklaying, block laying, and stone setting.
- Strong understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and specifications accurately.
- Excellent physical stamina, dexterity, and hand-eye coordination.
- Proficiency in using masonry tools and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.
