Job Description
We are seeking a highly vigilant, dedicated, and professional Security Officer for an exclusive live-in role focused on comprehensive estate surveillance within the bustling Kara Market area of Lagos. This is a critical full-time position responsible for ensuring the absolute safety and security of a designated private estate, its valued occupants, and all associated assets around the clock. The ideal candidate will possess a strong sense of responsibility, exceptional observational skills, and the ability to act decisively and calmly in various security-related situations. You will be an integral part of maintaining a peaceful and secure environment, performing regular, thorough patrols, meticulously monitoring advanced surveillance systems, rigorously controlling access points, and responding promptly and effectively to any security breaches, alarms, or emergencies that may arise. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct frequent and thorough patrols of the entire estate, including perimeter fences, grounds, internal and external buildings, to detect and deter any unauthorized activities, suspicious persons, or potential security threats.
- Monitor advanced CCTV surveillance systems, alarm panels, and other electronic security equipment continuously, promptly investigating any suspicious activities, system alerts, or anomalies.
- Rigorously control all access points for residents, authorized visitors, and contractors, ensuring strict adherence to established entry and exit protocols and maintaining accurate logs.
- Maintain detailed, accurate daily logs of all security-related incidents, activities, patrols, visitor information, and observations, submitting comprehensive reports as required.
- Respond swiftly, calmly, and effectively to emergencies, including but not limited to security breaches, medical incidents, fire alarms, and natural disasters, coordinating seamlessly with relevant emergency authorities (police, fire service, medical personnel) when necessary.
- Enforce all estate rules and regulations firmly and fairly, ensuring a peaceful, orderly, and secure environment for all occupants and preventing any disruptive behaviour.
- Conduct routine checks and basic maintenance on all security equipment, ensuring proper functionality and promptly reporting any malfunctions or damages to management.
- Liaise effectively and professionally with estate management, residents, and local law enforcement agencies regarding all security matters, sharing relevant information as appropriate.
- Provide professional, courteous, and helpful assistance to residents and legitimate visitors while strictly maintaining all security protocols and procedures.
- Implement and manage robust security procedures for key control, visitor management systems, and overall property protection strategies.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 12 months (1 year) of proven experience as a Security Officer, Guard, or in a similar surveillance-focused role.
- Exceptional observational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal abilities for effective interaction and report writing.
- Proficiency in operating and monitoring CCTV systems, alarm panels, and other standard security monitoring equipment.
- Demonstrated ability in accurate incident reporting, documentation, and record-keeping.
- Sound judgment and the ability to make quick, effective decisions under pressure and in emergency situations.
- High level of physical fitness and stamina to perform duties that include extensive patrolling and prolonged standing.
- Unquestionable integrity, honesty, and a consistently professional demeanor.
- Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency response procedures is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience specifically in residential estate security, private property protection, or VIP close protection.
- Possession of a valid Nigerian driver's license for potential operational mobility.
- Relevant certifications in security management, physical security, or related fields (e.g., ASIS, PPO, IFPO).
- Fluency in additional local languages pertinent to the Lagos area (e.g., Yoruba, Hausa) in addition to English.
- Comprehensive knowledge of local security threats, criminal trends, and established security protocols specific to the Lagos metropolis.
