Job Description
We are seeking a highly vigilant and dependable Security Officer for a private estate in Kukwuaba, Abuja, specifically for the night shift. The primary objective of this role is to ensure the safety and security of residents, visitors, and property within the designated estate during nighttime hours. The ideal candidate will possess a strong sense of responsibility, excellent observational skills, and the ability to act calmly and effectively in emergency situations. You will be instrumental in maintaining a secure perimeter, monitoring access points, conducting regular patrols, and responding to any security breaches or incidents. This role demands unwavering attention to detail and a proactive approach to risk mitigation, contributing significantly to the peaceful and secure environment our residents expect and deserve. This is a critical role for ensuring the undisturbed peace and protection of the estate’s inhabitants and assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of the private estate, including residential areas, common facilities, and perimeter, to deter unauthorized activities.
- Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems diligently throughout the night shift, promptly reporting any suspicious activities or system malfunctions.
- Control access to the estate by verifying the identity of individuals and vehicles entering and exiting, strictly adhering to established security protocols.
- Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, and security incidents, including medical emergencies, fire alerts, and unauthorized entry.
- Prepare detailed and accurate incident reports, daily activity logs, and shift summaries for management review.
- Enforce estate rules and regulations, ensuring compliance by residents and visitors.
- Collaborate with other security personnel, estate management, and local law enforcement when necessary.
- Provide assistance to residents and visitors in a courteous and professional manner, while maintaining security standards.
- Perform routine checks of security equipment to ensure proper functionality.
- Maintain a visible and professional presence to deter potential security threats.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Security Officer or in a similar role.
- Excellent observational and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to operate CCTV systems and other security equipment.
- Strong sense of integrity and professionalism.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical fitness and ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
- Basic computer literacy for report writing and communication.
- Good understanding of security procedures and protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant security certifications (e.g., ASIS, certified security professional).
- Previous experience working in private residential estates or similar high-value properties.
- Knowledge of local security laws and regulations in Abuja.
