Are you a highly skilled and safety-conscious Electrician with a passion for precision and a proven track record in industrial wiring installations? Weststar Associates Limited is seeking an experienced Electrician specializing in factory wiring for our facility in Alapere, Lagos. This is a critical hands-on role involving the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems within our advanced automotive service and assembly infrastructure. You will be instrumental in ensuring the reliable operation of our machinery, lighting, power distribution, and control systems, contributing directly to our operational efficiency and safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of industrial electrical codes, P&ID schematics, and best practices for robust electrical installations in a demanding factory-like environment. Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in industrial facilities, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams to determine wiring layouts and equipment specifications.
- Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions using appropriate testing devices (e.g., voltmeters, ammeters, oscilloscopes) to diagnose and repair faulty components.
- Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
- Connect power to new equipment and machinery, ensuring proper grounding and safety protocols are followed.
- Install and connect conduit, cabling, and other electrical distribution components according to technical drawings.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and company policies, particularly concerning Lockout/Tagout procedures and working with high voltage.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, documenting changes and upgrades.
- Collaborate effectively with other technical teams, engineers, and production staff to ensure project completion.
- Provide technical guidance and support when required, mentoring junior technicians.
- Ensure all electrical installations meet stringent quality standards and are fit for purpose and longevity.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in industrial electrical installation and maintenance within a factory or large-scale workshop setting.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety procedures and regulations (e.g., OSHA, local codes and standards).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Expertise in troubleshooting complex electrical systems and machinery using diagnostic tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cohesive team, demonstrating initiative and reliability.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a methodical approach to tasks.
- Physical dexterity and stamina to perform demanding tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
- Competence in using a wide range of electrical hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Knowledge of various wiring methods, conduit bending, and cable tray installation techniques.
- Good communication skills to interact effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and to report on progress.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade Test III, II, or I Certificate in Electrical Installation or equivalent professional certification.
- Higher National Diploma (HND) or Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Experience with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems and industrial automation control circuits.
- Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of generators, transformers, and switchgear within an industrial setting.
- Certification in first aid and CPR.
- Previous experience specifically within the automotive manufacturing, assembly, or heavy machinery industries.
