Job Description
We are actively seeking a highly dedicated, vigilant, and dependable Security Guard to join our professional team for a prestigious building complex situated in the bustling heart of Ikeja, Lagos. This is a crucial full-time position with a primary focus on night rotation, ensuring the utmost safety, security, and well-being of the property, its valued residents, and all visitors during the nocturnal hours. As a Night Security Guard, you will serve as the first line of defense against potential threats, taking full responsibility for maintaining an impeccably secure environment and responding promptly and effectively to any incidents that may arise. Your core duties will encompass continuous and thorough patrolling of the complex, meticulous monitoring of advanced surveillance equipment, stringent control over all access points, and diligently documenting every activity and unusual occurrence throughout your shift. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular, thorough, and systematic patrols of the entire building complex, including the perimeter, parking areas, common spaces, and designated restricted zones, specifically during night shifts.
- Monitor CCTV cameras and other advanced surveillance systems continuously to detect and prevent unauthorized entry, theft, vandalism, or any other security breaches.
- Strictly control access to the premises by verifying identification, issuing visitor passes, and meticulously logging all incoming and outgoing personnel and vehicles.
- Respond promptly, efficiently, and effectively to alarms, emergencies (including medical emergencies, fires), and security incidents (such as unauthorized intrusions), following established protocols.
- Consistently and respectfully enforce property rules and regulations, ensuring a safe, orderly, and harmonious environment for all occupants and visitors.
- Complete detailed daily activity reports, comprehensive incident reports, and other necessary documentation, accurately recording observations, actions taken, and any unusual occurrences.
- Collaborate closely and communicate seamlessly with day shift security personnel, property management, and local law enforcement agencies when necessary, ensuring smooth transitions and coordinated efforts.
- Conduct routine checks of fire safety equipment, emergency exits, and lighting systems to ensure their full functionality and compliance with safety standards.
- Provide courteous assistance and clear directions to residents and visitors when required, maintaining a professional and helpful demeanor at all times.
- Maintain unwavering vigilance and keen observation throughout the entire shift, promptly reporting any suspicious activities or individuals to the appropriate authorities.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of proven and verifiable experience as a Security Guard, preferably gained within a residential or commercial complex setting.
- Possession of a valid security training certificate from a recognized security academy or institution in Nigeria.
- Strong understanding of modern security protocols, emergency procedures, and advanced access control systems.
- Excellent observational skills, keen attention to detail, and a proactive mindset.
- Demonstrated ability to proficiently operate CCTV and other surveillance equipment.
- Proficient in basic report writing, accurate record-keeping, and incident documentation.
- Good physical condition and the stamina required to perform regular patrols and stand for extended periods.
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and also effectively as an integral part of a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, coupled with excellent interpersonal abilities.
- Unquestionable integrity, professionalism, and a high sense of responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience specifically working night shifts or in roles demanding extended periods of heightened vigilance.
- Knowledge of basic first aid and possession of a current CPR certification.
- Familiarity and experience with security management software and digital reporting tools.
- A background in military or paramilitary service is considered a significant advantage.
