Job Description
The Industrial Automation Engineer will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining automated systems across our agricultural processing and production facilities. This includes everything from designing and implementing PLC-based control systems for irrigation and harvesting equipment to developing and deploying sophisticated data acquisition and analysis systems. You will collaborate closely with engineers, technicians, and agricultural specialists to optimize processes, improve efficiency, and enhance product quality. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of industrial automation principles, a proven track record in project management, and a passion for applying technology to solve real-world challenges within the agricultural sector. You will be responsible for the complete lifecycle of automation projects, from initial design and feasibility studies to installation, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant contribution to the modernization of Jigawa State’s agricultural industry and to work on projects with direct and tangible impacts on food security and rural development. The successful candidate will be a proactive problem-solver, capable of working independently and as part of a collaborative team. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement PLC-based control systems for agricultural machinery and processes.
- Develop and maintain SCADA systems for monitoring and controlling industrial processes.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses for automation projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate automation systems into existing infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to automation systems.
- Prepare detailed technical documentation and reports.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in industrial automation technology.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
- Experience with SCADA systems (e.g., Wonderware, Ignition, etc.)
- Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus)
- Knowledge of industrial sensors, actuators, and drives
- Experience in project management and lifecycle management
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in industrial automation.
- Experience working in the agricultural sector is a plus.
- Familiarity with data acquisition and analysis tools
- Strong understanding of safety standards and regulations related to industrial automation.
