Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior engineers and technicians in routine inspection, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment and systems (e.g., HVAC, pumps, generators, plumbing).
- Conduct preventative maintenance tasks according to schedules and established procedures to minimize breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues, diagnose faults, and propose effective solutions under supervision.
- Document maintenance activities, including work orders, repair logs, and equipment histories.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations in all maintenance operations.
- Assist in the installation of new mechanical equipment and systems as required.
- Participate in emergency repairs and respond to urgent maintenance requests across the campus.
- Maintain an organized inventory of tools, spare parts, and consumables.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (or awaiting NYSC certificate).
- Basic understanding of mechanical principles, systems, and components.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Proactive attitude, eagerness to learn, and a strong work ethic.
- Proficiency in using basic hand and power tools.
- Familiarity with safety standards and practices in an industrial or institutional setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior internship or industrial attachment experience in a maintenance department.
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Knowledge of AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
