Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport packages, documents, and other goods on a motorcycle within Ebute-Metta and surrounding areas of Lagos.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws and company safety policies at all times, prioritizing personal and public safety.
- Plan optimal delivery routes using maps or GPS to ensure timely and efficient deliveries, minimizing transit time.
- Verify package contents against delivery manifests and obtain proper signatures or proof of delivery upon successful completion.
- Maintain accurate delivery records, including details of successful deliveries, unsuccessful attempts, and daily route logs.
- Handle packages with utmost care to prevent damage during transit, ensuring goods arrive in pristine condition.
- Communicate effectively and courteously with dispatch, customers, and team members regarding delivery status, potential delays, or any issues encountered.
- Perform routine pre-trip and post-trip checks on the motorcycle to ensure it is in good working condition and report any maintenance needs promptly.
- Represent GIG Logistics professionally, maintaining a neat appearance and a courteous, helpful demeanor towards all customers.
- Handle cash transactions for Cash-on-Delivery (COD) services accurately and responsibly, reconciling all transactions at the end of each shift (if applicable).
Required Skills
- Valid Class A/E or G driver's license with demonstrable experience riding a motorcycle in urban environments.
- Proven ability to navigate Lagos roads effectively using maps, GPS applications, or local knowledge.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact politely and professionally.
- Strong sense of responsibility, punctuality, and reliability.
- Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Basic knowledge of motorcycle maintenance and troubleshooting to handle minor issues on the go.
- Physical stamina and endurance to handle packages and long hours of riding in varying weather conditions.
- High level of integrity, honesty, and professionalism in all aspects of the job.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (at least 6 months) as a dispatch rider or courier in Lagos.
- Familiarity with various Lagos routes and landmarks, especially within Ebute-Metta and the wider Mainland areas.
- SSCE or OND qualification.
- Proficiency in using smartphone applications for delivery tracking, navigation, and communication.
- A strong customer service-oriented mindset, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
