Job Description
Are you a skilled and responsible driver with a passion for ensuring timely and safe delivery of goods? GIG Logistics is seeking a dedicated Delivery Van Driver to join our dynamic team operating from the bustling Trade Fair Complex in Amuwo Odofin, Lagos. In this crucial role, you will be the face of our company, responsible for the efficient transportation and distribution of various goods across designated routes. Your primary duty will be to safely operate a delivery van, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies, to ensure packages are picked up and delivered on schedule. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, excellent navigation skills, and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.
You will be responsible for loading, unloading, and securing items, ensuring their integrity throughout the transit process. Beyond driving, this role involves routine vehicle inspections, maintaining a clean and orderly vehicle, and accurately documenting deliveries and pickups. We are looking for someone who is not only a proficient driver but also possesses strong communication skills to interact professionally with clients and dispatch teams. Key Responsibilities
- Operate delivery vans safely and efficiently on assigned routes, adhering to all traffic laws and company regulations.
- Load, unload, prepare, inspect, and operate delivery vehicles with utmost care.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Ensure accurate tracking and documentation of all packages, including pick-ups and deliveries.
- Interact professionally and courteously with customers, providing excellent service at every touchpoint.
- Maintain a clean and organized delivery vehicle, both inside and out.
- Handle all delivered items with care to prevent damage during transit.
- Verify contents of cargo against manifest or invoices.
- Collect and verify delivery payments where applicable.
- Adhere to delivery schedules and effectively manage time to meet daily targets.
Required Skills
- Valid Class E (Commercial) Driver’s License
- Proven experience as a delivery driver with a clean driving record
- Strong knowledge of Lagos road networks, especially Amuwo Odofin and surrounding areas
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to operate a GPS device and other navigation tools
- Good physical stamina and ability to lift heavy packages (up to 50 lbs)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to safety and adherence to company policies
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of O’Level (SSCE) education or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of professional experience as a delivery driver.
- Defensive driving certification.
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge for minor troubleshooting.
- Experience with electronic proof of delivery systems.
