Key Responsibilities
- Execute daily cleaning tasks for the entire store premises, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming sales floors, aisles, and other public areas before opening hours.
- Clean and sanitise all restroom facilities, ensuring they are well-stocked, hygienic, and maintained throughout the morning shift.
- Empty waste bins, collect trash, and dispose of rubbish in designated areas following company and environmental guidelines.
- Clean and maintain staff breakrooms, offices, and other back-of-house areas as required.
- Maintain the cleanliness of store entrances, windows, and the immediate exterior areas surrounding the building.
- Operate cleaning equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring proper care, maintenance, and storage after use.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and hygiene standards and procedures established by Shoprite and local regulations.
- Report any maintenance issues, potential hazards, or cleaning supply needs to management promptly to ensure continuous operation.
- Ensure all cleaning materials and chemicals are stored safely and correctly, with appropriate labelling and access controls.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to perform physical tasks required for cleaning, including lifting, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining consistently high cleanliness standards.
- Exceptional reliability, punctuality, and a strong, proactive work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively and independently with minimal supervision while adhering to a strict morning schedule.
- Basic understanding of health and safety regulations, particularly relevant to a retail environment.
- Good communication skills to interact respectfully and effectively with team members and supervisors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (at least 6 months) in a cleaning role, preferably within a retail or commercial setting.
