Job Description
Join Grindrod’s vibrant logistics team in Richards Bay as a Delivery Assistant, Warehouse & Distribution. This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic and detail-oriented individual to contribute significantly to our warehousing and distribution operations. In this fast-paced, hands-on role, you will be an integral part of ensuring the accurate and timely movement of goods within our facilities and during deliveries. You’ll work closely with warehouse supervisors, drivers, and other team members, supporting the entire supply chain process from inbound receiving to outbound dispatch. Your day-to-day will involve physical tasks in a dynamic environment, requiring good stamina and a proactive approach. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the loading and unloading of delivery vehicles, ensuring safe and efficient handling of goods.
- Support warehouse operations, including receiving, sorting, storing, and dispatching of products.
- Accurately pick and pack orders according to picking lists and ensure proper labeling.
- Conduct basic inventory checks and assist with stocktaking procedures as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the warehouse and distribution areas.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and operational guidelines.
- Assist drivers with route navigation and delivery logistics, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.
- Report any discrepancies, damages, or safety concerns immediately to the supervisor.
- Operate basic warehouse equipment (e.g., pallet jacks) safely and efficiently under supervision.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve daily operational targets.
Required Skills
- Grade 10 or equivalent education
- Physical fitness and ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 25kg) regularly.
- Valid South African driver's license (Code B or higher) or willingness to obtain.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (6-12 months) in a warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment.
- Knowledge of Richards Bay and surrounding delivery routes.
- Experience with basic warehouse management systems (WMS) or inventory tracking.
- Forklift operator's license (advantageous, but not required for initial role).
- First Aid certification.
