GIG Logistics is seeking a dedicated Junior Driver to join our dynamic team, focusing on vehicle delivery within our expanding company fleet. This vital role is crucial for ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of our valuable assets – vehicles – to various operational hubs, service centers, and client locations across Victoria Island and broader Lagos. As a Junior Driver, you will be instrumental in maintaining the operational readiness of our fleet, facilitating timely vehicle transfers, and supporting our logistics network. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently drive company vehicles (various classes) to designated locations as per scheduled routes or ad-hoc requests.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring they are in optimal working condition and promptly reporting any defects or maintenance needs.
- Ensure accurate logging of vehicle mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery details into company systems or logs.
- Adhere strictly to all national and local traffic laws, company driving policies, and safety regulations at all times.
- Maintain the cleanliness and good appearance of assigned company vehicles, both interior and exterior.
- Assist with basic vehicle maintenance checks such as checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and reporting any issues.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with fleet management, dispatchers, and other team members regarding delivery status, potential delays, or unforeseen issues.
- Handle vehicle documentation (e.g., registration, insurance) responsibly and ensure they are always present, valid, and up-to-date in the vehicle.
- Represent GIG Logistics professionally and courteously at all times while on duty, serving as an ambassador for our brand.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian Driver's License (Class B or C, as appropriate for vehicle type)
- Minimum of 1 year (12 months) of professional driving experience, preferably in a corporate fleet or logistics setting
- Clean driving record with no history of major traffic violations or accidents
- Excellent knowledge of Lagos road networks, especially Victoria Island and surrounding areas
- Strong understanding and adherence to road safety regulations and traffic laws
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional demeanor
- Ability to perform basic vehicle checks and routine maintenance tasks
- High level of reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends, if required by operational needs
Preferred Qualifications
- Possession of a Defensive Driving certification from a recognized institution
- Experience driving various vehicle types, including sedans, SUVs, and light commercial vans
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route optimization tools
- Basic mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting minor vehicle issues on the road
