Are you a skilled and proactive Maintenance Technician with a passion for ensuring operational excellence within a dynamic corporate environment? Heritage Bank Plc is seeking a dedicated and experienced Maintenance Technician specializing in building repairs to join our Facilities Management team on Lagos Island. This critical role requires a hands-on individual capable of performing a wide range of repair and maintenance tasks across our commercial properties, ensuring all building systems and facilities are functioning optimally and safely. You will be responsible for both reactive repairs and preventive maintenance, working diligently to minimize downtime and uphold our high standards of facility presentation and safety. This is a shift-duty position, requiring flexibility and a commitment to maintaining our infrastructure around the clock. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a proven track record in general building maintenance, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems. Your expertise will be instrumental in preserving the value of our assets and providing a seamless experience for our staff and customers. Key Responsibilities

  • Execute routine and emergency repairs on building structures, fixtures, and fittings including walls, floors, ceilings, doors, windows, and office furniture.
  • Perform skilled tasks in carpentry, masonry, painting, plumbing (e.g., fixing leaks, unclogging drains), and basic electrical systems maintenance (e.g., replacing light fixtures, switches, minor wiring repairs).
  • Conduct preventive maintenance checks on building systems and equipment to identify and address potential issues before they escalate, ensuring longevity and efficiency.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues, diagnosing problems accurately and implementing effective, lasting solutions.
  • Monitor and maintain HVAC systems, ensuring proper functioning, optimal air quality, and comfortable indoor climate for all occupants.
  • Assist with the installation, repair, and maintenance of various building utilities and services, including water supply and waste disposal systems.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs performed, parts used, and equipment serviced.
  • Adhere strictly to safety regulations, building codes, and company policies, ensuring a safe working environment at all times for yourself and others.
  • Collaborate effectively with other team members, contractors, and vendors to efficiently complete maintenance projects and minimize disruption.
  • Be available for shift duties, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, as per operational requirements to ensure continuous facility functionality.
  • Carry out regular facility inspections, identify areas requiring attention, and prepare comprehensive reports on the condition of infrastructure and necessary repairs.

Required Skills

  • Proven practical experience in general building maintenance and repairs.
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general construction techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Proficiency in using various hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to interact with staff and contractors.
  • Physical stamina and agility to perform manual tasks, lift heavy objects, and work in various conditions.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a cohesive team, demonstrating initiative and reliability.
  • A keen eye for detail and a steadfast commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • Thorough understanding of health and safety regulations pertinent to building maintenance and facility operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OND/HND/Trade Test Certificate in a relevant technical field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Technology, Facilities Management).
  • At least 3 years of progressive experience in facility maintenance, preferably within a corporate, banking, or commercial setting.
  • Certification in specific trades (e.g., certified electrician, plumber, HVAC technician).
  • Experience with generator maintenance, fire alarm systems, and basic IT infrastructure troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for logging and tracking work orders.
