Job Description

Are you a passionate and inspiring Music Teacher looking to make a significant impact on young lives? Acklam Grange School, a proud member of the Northern Education Trust, is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Music Teacher to join our thriving Arts department. We are looking for an individual who can ignite a love for music in students from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4, fostering creativity, critical listening, and practical musical skills. Beyond the classroom, you will play a crucial role in enriching the school’s cultural life. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective music lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students.
  • Develop and implement creative schemes of work and diverse teaching resources.
  • Organise and lead extracurricular music activities such as choirs, bands, and musical theatre productions.
  • Contribute to school events, concerts, and performances.
  • Maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Arts department and across the school.
  • Participate in professional development and training opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and welfare.

Required Skills

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A degree in Music or a related subject.
  • Excellent subject knowledge across various musical genres and disciplines.
  • Proven ability to plan and deliver inspiring and challenging lessons.
  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for music and a commitment to fostering creativity in young people.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching Music across Key Stage 3 and 4.
  • Ability to teach an additional expressive arts subject (e.g., Drama, Art).
  • Experience in leading extracurricular music groups or ensembles.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in music education.
  • Familiarity with current educational technologies for music.
