Job Description
We are seeking highly skilled and safety-conscious Scaffolders to join our dynamic construction team in Bur Dubai, Dubai. As a Scaffolder at ALEC, you will play a crucial role in the safe and efficient execution of our diverse construction projects, ranging from commercial buildings to intricate infrastructure developments within the bustling Bur Dubai area. Your primary responsibility will be the erection, alteration, and dismantling of various scaffolding systems in strict adherence to international and local safety standards, engineering drawings, and company policies. This is a demanding yet rewarding role that requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of structural integrity, and an unwavering commitment to workplace safety for yourself and your colleagues. You will work within a collaborative environment, often at height, in varying weather conditions typical of the region, ensuring that all temporary access solutions are secure, stable, and fit for purpose, enabling other trades to perform their duties safely and effectively. Key Responsibilities
- Erect, alter, and dismantle scaffolding systems (e.g., tube and fitting, system scaffolding like Layher, Cuplock) safely and efficiently, following approved drawings, designs, and work methods.
- Inspect scaffolding components for damage or defects before use and ensure proper storage and maintenance of equipment.
- Conduct daily pre-use checks and regular inspections of erected scaffolds to ensure their continued safety and compliance with regulations.
- Interpret and work from technical drawings, specifications, and instructions to determine the optimal scaffolding configuration.
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, site supervisors, and other trades to coordinate scaffolding requirements and ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and regulations, including working at height protocols.
- Identify and report any potential hazards or unsafe conditions on site immediately.
- Participate in toolbox talks and safety briefings, contributing to a proactive safety culture.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Assist in the training and mentorship of junior scaffolding team members, promoting best practices.
Required Skills
- Valid scaffolding certification from a recognized authority (e.g., CISRS, relevant UAE Ministry of Labour certification, or equivalent international qualification).
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a Scaffolder on large-scale construction projects, preferably in the UAE.
- Demonstrable knowledge of various scaffolding types and systems, including their erection, inspection, and dismantling procedures.
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations pertaining to scaffolding and working at height.
- Ability to read and interpret scaffolding drawings and specifications accurately.
- Excellent physical fitness, agility, and the ability to work comfortably at heights.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A strong commitment to safety and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced scaffolding certification (e.g., Advanced Scaffolder or Supervisor level).
- Experience with specialized scaffolding systems and complex structures.
- First Aid and basic fire safety certification.
- Valid UAE driving license (light vehicle or heavy vehicle).
- Experience working on high-rise buildings or complex industrial projects.
