Are you an ambitious and eager-to-learn individual with a foundational understanding of engineering principles and a passion for construction? Eliel Construction is seeking a dedicated Junior Engineering Assistant to join our project team on-site in GRA, Ikeja. This pivotal entry-level role is ideal for recent graduates or individuals with limited experience who are keen to gain hands-on practical experience in the dynamic world of construction project management. As a Junior Engineering Assistant, you will work closely with seasoned Project Engineers and Site Managers, providing crucial support in daily site operations, technical documentation, quality assurance, and adherence to project timelines. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Senior Engineers and Site Managers in overseeing daily site activities, ensuring operations align with project plans and specifications.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Help with the preparation and review of technical documents, reports, drawings, and schedules.
  • Collect and analyze data, including measurements, material quantities, and resource utilization, to aid in project tracking and reporting.
  • Support in the verification of materials and equipment deliveries against specifications and orders.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate site records, including daily logs, progress reports, and incident reports.
  • Liaise with sub-contractors and site personnel under the guidance of senior staff to ensure smooth workflow and problem resolution.
  • Contribute to the implementation and enforcement of health, safety, and environmental protocols on-site.
  • Operate basic surveying equipment and assist in setting out works.
  • Learn and apply relevant industry standards, codes, and best practices.
  • Provide administrative support to the project team as required.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.Sc), Higher National Diploma (HND), or Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Civil Engineering, Building Technology, or a related field.
  • Basic proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced construction environment.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
  • Physical fitness and ability to work in various weather conditions on a construction site.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges and technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous industrial attachment (IT) or internship experience in a construction or engineering firm.
  • Familiarity with Nigerian building codes and construction regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project).
  • Valid driver's license.
