This vital role involves operating a company vehicle to perform local deliveries and pickups within Victoria Island and surrounding areas in Lagos. Key Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently for local delivery and pickup of goods within Victoria Island and designated areas.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes for timely deliveries, utilizing navigation tools as needed.
- Load and unload packages carefully, ensuring goods are properly secured to prevent damage during transit.
- Verify the accuracy of delivery manifests against physical packages before departure and upon arrival.
- Collect signatures and process necessary paperwork for deliveries and pickups.
- Perform routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Maintain the cleanliness and good working order of the company vehicle.
- Adhere strictly to all road safety regulations, traffic laws, and company driving policies.
- Provide excellent customer service during interactions, representing GIG Logistics professionally.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and operations teams regarding delivery status or any unforeseen challenges.
- Handle cash payments or electronic transactions as required, ensuring accuracy and security.
- Assist with other operational tasks as needed to ensure smooth workflow.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian Driver's License (Class E or equivalent)
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable professional driving experience
- Thorough knowledge of Lagos road networks, especially Victoria Island and surrounding areas
- Excellent defensive driving skills and a clean driving record
- Ability to operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Good physical stamina to load and unload packages
- Effective verbal communication skills
- High level of responsibility and reliability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- SSCE/WAEC or equivalent education
- Previous experience as a delivery driver in a logistics or e-commerce company
- Familiarity with GPS devices and route optimization software
