Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Driver to join our dynamic logistics and delivery team in Yangoji, Abuja. As a Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of goods, packages, and parcels using a company-provided vehicle. This critical role ensures that our clients’ shipments reach their destinations efficiently and in perfect condition, upholding GIG Logistics’ reputation for reliability and customer satisfaction. You will navigate various routes within Yangoji, Abuja, and surrounding areas, adhering strictly to traffic laws and company safety protocols. Beyond driving, this role requires excellent communication skills for interacting with dispatchers, customers, and team members. You will be expected to maintain accurate delivery logs, conduct routine vehicle inspections, and ensure the cleanliness and operational readiness of your assigned company vehicle. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, a meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to providing exceptional service. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate company-provided vehicles for the transportation and delivery of goods, packages, and parcels.
- Plan and execute delivery routes in a timely manner, optimizing for efficiency and adherence to schedules.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring all safety and operational components are in working order.
- Load and unload goods with care, verifying inventory against manifests and obtaining necessary signatures upon delivery.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and any vehicle-related issues.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company driving policies.
- Ensure the cleanliness and routine maintenance of the company vehicle, reporting any mechanical faults promptly.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, representing GIG Logistics professionally at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian Class E Driver's License
- Proven experience as a professional driver, preferably in logistics or delivery.
- Excellent knowledge of Abuja and surrounding areas' road networks.
- Strong understanding and adherence to road safety regulations.
- Ability to operate various types of delivery vehicles (vans, trucks).
- Good physical condition and stamina to handle loading/unloading tasks.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of SSCE/WAEC qualification.
- Defensive driving certification.
- Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs) or delivery management software.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Ability to speak local languages relevant to the service area.
