Key Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of ultrasound examinations across various specialities, including abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, vascular, and musculoskeletal.
- Independently interpret ultrasound findings, formulate accurate diagnostic reports, and communicate results to referring clinicians.
- Ensure patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality throughout the examination process.
- Maintain and operate sophisticated ultrasound equipment, ensuring optimal image quality and adherence to safety protocols.
- Participate in departmental quality assurance programmes, clinical audits, and service improvement initiatives.
- Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to junior staff, student sonographers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Contribute to the continuous professional development of the imaging department through participation in training and educational activities.
- Adhere to professional guidelines, hospital policies, and all relevant health and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Radiographer or hold equivalent professional registration.
- Possess a Post-graduate Diploma or Master's degree in Medical Ultrasound (or equivalent).
- Significant post-qualification clinical experience as a Sonographer, demonstrating proficiency in a broad range of ultrasound examinations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to empathise with patients and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work autonomously and manage a varied caseload efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Specialist experience in areas such as obstetric anomaly scanning, vascular ultrasound, or advanced musculoskeletal imaging.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and participation in relevant training courses or conferences.
- Experience withPACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) and RIS (Radiology Information System).
- Leadership or supervisory experience within an ultrasound department.
