Homtels Hotel & Suites is seeking a diligent and motivated Junior Laundry Supervisor to join our dedicated team in Odogunyan, Ikorodu. This pivotal role is ideal for an individual with foundational experience in laundry operations who is eager to take on supervisory responsibilities within a bustling hotel environment. As a Junior Laundry Supervisor, you will be instrumental in overseeing the daily functions of our hotel laundry service, ensuring all linens, uniforms, and guest items are impeccably cleaned, pressed, and maintained to our stringent quality standards. You will work closely with the Head Laundry Supervisor, providing essential support in managing laundry staff, optimizing workflow, and maintaining equipment. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Laundry Supervisor in managing daily laundry operations, including sorting, washing, drying, folding, and pressing of hotel linens, towels, uniforms, and guest items.
- Supervise and train junior laundry staff, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
- Perform quality control checks on all laundered items to ensure they meet Homtels Hotel & Suites’ high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
- Monitor inventory levels of laundry supplies (detergents, softeners, stain removers) and report needs to the supervisor.
- Operate and maintain laundry machinery (washers, dryers, ironers) safely and efficiently, performing basic troubleshooting and reporting maintenance issues promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment within the laundry facility.
- Assist in scheduling staff shifts and assigning tasks to ensure efficient coverage and timely completion of work.
- Handle guest laundry requests with professionalism and discretion, ensuring timely return of items.
- Implement and enforce health and safety regulations within the laundry department.
- Contribute to efforts in minimizing waste and conserving resources in laundry operations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a commercial or hotel laundry environment (minimum 1.5 years).
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and quality.
- Ability to operate and perform basic troubleshooting on laundry equipment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Basic understanding of different fabric types and appropriate washing/drying methods.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry items for extended periods.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer literacy for inventory tracking and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience in a hotel or similar hospitality setting.
- Certification in laundry operations or hospitality management.
- Knowledge of local health and safety regulations pertaining to laundry operations.
- Familiarity with inventory management software.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
