Job Description

Access Bank Plc is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and results-oriented Head of Human Resources to lead our comprehensive HR function in Victoria Island, Lagos. This pivotal leadership role will be instrumental in shaping our people strategy, ensuring alignment with the bank’s ambitious business objectives, and fostering a high-performance, inclusive culture. The Head of HR will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of human capital management, from talent acquisition and development to employee relations, compensation and benefits, performance management, and HR policy formulation. You will be a key member of the senior leadership team, acting as a trusted advisor on all HR-related matters, driving initiatives that enhance employee engagement, productivity, and overall organizational effectiveness. We are looking for an individual who possesses a deep understanding of HR best practices, Nigerian labour laws, and a proven track record of successfully managing large, diverse workforces within a fast-paced financial services environment. This role demands a visionary leader with exceptional communication skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a robust HR strategy aligned with Access Bank's overall business goals and objectives.
  • Lead and mentor the HR team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and professional development.
  • Oversee talent acquisition and retention strategies, ensuring the bank attracts, hires, and retains top talent across all levels.
  • Design and manage comprehensive compensation and benefits programs that are competitive and equitable, in line with industry standards.
  • Drive performance management processes, including goal setting, appraisals, feedback mechanisms, and talent reviews.
  • Develop and implement learning and development programs to enhance employee skills, capabilities, and career progression.
  • Manage employee relations, ensuring fair and consistent application of HR policies and procedures, and resolving workplace conflicts effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Nigerian labour laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to create an inclusive workplace culture.
  • Utilize HR analytics and metrics to inform decision-making and measure the effectiveness of HR initiatives.
  • Act as a strategic partner to senior leadership, providing guidance on organizational design, change management, and workforce planning.
  • Oversee HR budgeting and resource allocation to ensure optimal utilization.
  • Implement and manage HR technology solutions to improve efficiency and employee experience.

Required Skills

  • Proven expertise in strategic human resource management and organizational development (minimum 10 years in a leadership HR role).
  • Strong understanding of Nigerian labour laws and industrial relations.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and other HR technology platforms.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong business acumen with a commercial mindset.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multiple priorities.
  • High ethical standards and a commitment to confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., CIPM, SHRM-SCP, SPHR).
  • Experience in a multinational financial institution or a large, publicly traded company.
  • Demonstrated success in driving cultural transformation and change management initiatives.
  • Familiarity with global HR best practices and trends.
