Job Description
Union Cement Company is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Mechanical Foreman to join our operations team in Digdaga, Ras Al Khaimah. This crucial role involves overseeing and leading a team of mechanical technicians in the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of a diverse range of heavy industrial machinery and equipment within our cement plant. The Mechanical Foreman will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of all mechanical systems, implementing rigorous preventative maintenance schedules, responding promptly and effectively to breakdowns, and upholding the highest standards of safety and quality in all mechanical works.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership capabilities, exceptional technical expertise in industrial mechanical systems, and a proactive, problem-solving approach to maintenance challenges. Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of mechanical technicians, ensuring adherence to daily work schedules, quality standards, and company policies.
- Plan, organize, and execute routine preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, and corrective maintenance activities for all mechanical equipment within the plant.
- Diagnose complex mechanical faults, troubleshoot intricate issues, and perform timely and effective repairs on heavy machinery, including conveyors, crushers, mills, kilns, pumps, motors, gearboxes, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals to guide precise maintenance and repair operations.
- Ensure strict compliance with all relevant safety regulations, company health and safety policies, and environmental standards during all maintenance and repair activities.
- Manage and monitor spare parts inventory, initiate requests for necessary components, and maintain accurate and detailed maintenance records and reports.
- Coordinate effectively with other departments (e.g., electrical, production, operations) to ensure seamless plant functionality and minimize operational disruptions.
- Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvements, equipment upgrades, and cost-saving measures to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment to identify potential issues proactively before they lead to critical breakdowns.
- Provide comprehensive on-the-job training and continuous mentorship to junior technicians to enhance their skills, knowledge, and professional development.
- Respond swiftly and efficiently to emergency breakdowns to restore operations promptly and minimize production losses.
Required Skills
- Proven leadership and team management abilities with a focus on motivation and safety.
- Extensive practical knowledge of industrial mechanical systems, heavy machinery, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment.
- Strong analytical troubleshooting and complex problem-solving skills for mechanical failures.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical diagrams, blueprints, and detailed maintenance manuals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated unwavering commitment to stringent safety practices and procedures in an industrial environment.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing operational demands.
- Proficiency in using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and standard computer applications (MS Office Suite).
Preferred Qualifications
- ITI/Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related technical field.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience specifically in the cement manufacturing industry or other heavy industrial environments (e.g., mining, steel, power generation).
- Relevant certifications in mechanical trades, industrial safety, or supervisory roles.
- Knowledge of condition monitoring techniques (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography) to predict equipment failures.
- Fluency in Arabic in addition to English for effective communication with a diverse workforce.
