DHL Express Rwanda is seeking a dedicated Delivery Driver to join our team in Karongi, Western Province. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate company vehicles (vans, trucks) to pick up and deliver packages and documents to designated locations within Karongi and the Western Province.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and driving regulations.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring they are in optimal working condition and promptly reporting any maintenance issues.
- Accurately complete all necessary delivery paperwork, electronic scanning, and documentation, including manifests, waybills, and delivery receipts.
- Provide exceptional customer service during pickups and deliveries, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor at all times.
- Handle packages with utmost care to prevent damage, ensuring secure loading and unloading procedures are followed.
- Manage delivery routes efficiently, optimizing time and fuel consumption to meet service standards.
- Process cash on delivery (COD) payments and maintain accurate financial records as required.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and customers regarding delivery status, potential delays, or service issues.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the company vehicle, representing DHL's brand image.
- Assist with loading and unloading parcels, ensuring proper handling and sorting.
Required Skills
- Valid Rwandan Class B, C, or higher driving license with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience of at least one year as a delivery driver or in a similar logistics role.
- Excellent knowledge of Karongi and the surrounding Western Province geographical area, including main routes and local landmarks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues.
- Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 50 lbs (approx. 23 kg) regularly.
- High degree of punctuality, reliability, and responsibility.
- Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety checks.
- Fluent in Kinyarwanda; proficiency in English or French is a significant advantage.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 2 years of professional driving experience, preferably in a logistics or courier setting.
- Secondary school certificate or equivalent.
- Defensive driving certification or equivalent safety training.
- Familiarity with handheld scanning devices and basic logistics software.
- Basic mechanical skills to handle minor vehicle issues or troubleshooting on the road.
- Experience with customer service in a delivery capacity.
