Alpha Facilities & Services Ltd. is seeking a dedicated and proactive Junior Maintenance Worker to join our dynamic team, specifically focused on property repairs within our staff accommodation facilities located in Lawanson, Surulere. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with foundational skills in general maintenance and a strong eagerness to learn and grow within the vibrant facilities management industry. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and comfort of our staff residents by performing a variety of routine and emergency repair tasks. As a Junior Maintenance Worker, you will operate under the direct supervision of experienced senior maintenance staff, providing you with invaluable exposure and practical experience across multiple essential trades including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repairs. Your daily responsibilities will involve systematically diagnosing issues, executing timely and effective repairs, diligently performing preventive maintenance to extend asset lifespans, and ensuring all work rigorously complies with established safety regulations and company policies. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and emergency repairs and maintenance tasks within staff accommodation units, covering plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general handyman duties.
  • Conduct thorough and regular inspections of properties to proactively identify and address potential maintenance issues before they escalate.
  • Troubleshoot and accurately diagnose problems with various appliances, fixtures, and structural elements.
  • Execute comprehensive preventive maintenance schedules to prolong the lifespan of facilities and equipment, reducing downtime.
  • Respond promptly and efficiently to all maintenance requests from staff residents, ensuring timely and effective resolution of concerns.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance work performed, materials utilized, and time spent on each task.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, as well as company policies, during every maintenance operation.
  • Assist senior maintenance technicians with more complex repairs, installations, and ongoing projects.
  • Ensure the cleanliness, organization, and proper storage of all work areas, tools, and equipment.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with staff residents regarding repair schedules, progress, and estimated completion times.
  • Procure and manage necessary repair materials and tools, ensuring optimal stock levels and cost-efficiency.

Required Skills

  • Basic foundational knowledge of plumbing systems and ability to perform common repairs (e.g., leaky faucets, clogged drains, toilet repairs).
  • Fundamental understanding of electrical systems and capability to execute minor electrical repairs (e.g., changing light fixtures, switches, socket repairs).
  • Basic carpentry skills (e.g., minor furniture repairs, door adjustments, cabinet fixes).
  • Proficiency in general property maintenance and a variety of basic repair tasks.
  • Ability to safely and effectively use a diverse range of hand and power tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic abilities to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with residents and team members.
  • Physical stamina and capability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a steadfast commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
  • Valid driver’s license (considered advantageous but not strictly mandatory for initial application).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possession of a relevant trade certificate or completion of vocational training in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or general maintenance.
  • Previous practical experience working in a residential, hospitality, or institutional maintenance role.
  • Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and safety standards in Lagos, Nigeria.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as an integral part of a team.
