Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team in Kano, Kano. Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and design for a variety of building and infrastructure projects using relevant software and engineering principles.
- Prepare detailed structural drawings, specifications, and reports in accordance with Nigerian and international building codes (e.g., BS, Eurocodes).
- Collaborate with architects, civil engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate structural designs seamlessly into overall project plans.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor construction progress, ensure adherence to design specifications, and address any structural challenges.
- Review and approve structural submissions from contractors and sub-consultants.
- Evaluate existing structures for integrity, recommend remedial actions, and design retrofitting solutions when necessary.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources efficiently to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to their professional development.
- Stay abreast of the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in structural engineering.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, Orion, CSC Tedds, Etabs, SAP2000).
- Strong command of AutoCAD and other relevant drafting software.
- Excellent understanding of concrete, steel, and timber design principles.
- In-depth knowledge of Nigerian Building Code and relevant international standards.
- Solid analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Structural Engineering or a related field.
- Registered Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
- Membership in relevant professional bodies (e.g., NSE, NISTRUCTE).
- Experience with project management tools and methodologies (e.g., PMP certification).
- Familiarity with geotechnical engineering principles.
