We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Handyman/Woman to join our dynamic facilities maintenance team in Oxford, Oxfordshire. This vital role involves a wide range of general maintenance and repair tasks across various client sites within the Oxford area, ensuring that properties are well-maintained, safe, and fully operational. As a Handyman/Woman, you will be the first point of contact for minor repairs and maintenance issues, demonstrating a proactive approach to identifying and resolving potential problems before they escalate. You will be responsible for carrying out routine checks, conducting preventative maintenance, and responding promptly to service requests, utilizing your diverse skill set in areas such as basic plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and general building repairs. Key Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and repair tasks across a variety of client properties, including minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting.
- Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment, identifying and reporting defects or potential hazards.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to maintenance requests and service calls.
- Install, repair, and maintain fixtures, fittings, and equipment.
- Carry out preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend asset lifespans.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard, adhering to health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, materials used, and time spent.
- Collaborate with other facilities team members and contractors as needed.
- Manage and maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order and stored safely.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain professional communication with clients and site occupants.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a Handyman/Woman or similar multi-skilled maintenance role.
- Proficiency in basic plumbing, including leak detection and minor repairs.
- Competency in basic electrical work, such as changing light fixtures and fault finding.
- Skilled in general carpentry, including door repairs, frame fitting, and shelving installation.
- Ability to perform painting, decorating, and plastering touch-ups.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and fix issues efficiently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Full, clean UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant NVQ or City & Guilds qualification in a trade (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, electrical).
- Certification in First Aid.
- Experience working in a facilities management or property maintenance environment.
- Health & Safety awareness training (e.g., IOSH Working Safely).
