Key Responsibilities
- Perform general garden maintenance duties including mowing, weeding, pruning, planting, and mulching.
- Operate and maintain a variety of landscaping equipment, such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools, ensuring safe and efficient use.
- Install new plants, trees, shrubs, and flowers according to landscape designs and specifications.
- Implement and manage irrigation systems, ensuring proper watering schedules and addressing any issues.
- Prepare soil and apply fertilizers, pesticides, and other treatments as needed to maintain plant health.
- Ensure cleanliness and tidiness of all landscaped areas, including removal of debris and litter.
- Assist with hardscaping tasks such as paving, path laying, and construction of garden features when required.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, reporting any hazards or incidents promptly.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding project progress and challenges.
- Provide excellent customer service when interacting with clients on-site, representing Servest professionally.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in gardening, landscaping, or grounds maintenance.
- Knowledge of various plant species, their care requirements, and common pests/diseases.
- Ability to operate and maintain landscaping equipment safely and efficiently.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to perform strenuous outdoor tasks in various weather conditions.
- Good understanding of basic irrigation principles.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certificate or diploma in horticulture, landscaping, or a related field.
- Valid driver's license (Code B/EB) with a clean driving record.
- Experience with landscape design implementation.
- Knowledge of local plant species native to Gauteng.
- First Aid certification.
