You will be responsible for assessing patient needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans, administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for recovery. This position requires a proactive approach to patient management, excellent clinical judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of doctors, specialists, and other healthcare professionals. Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in the ward setting.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, accurately and safely.
- Monitor and record patients' vital signs, symptoms, and medical information.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in accordance with hospital policies.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and adjust treatment plans.
- Provide patient and family education on health conditions, medications, and self-care techniques.
- Ensure the cleanliness, safety, and organization of the ward environment.
- Respond to medical emergencies and initiate appropriate interventions.
- Supervise and mentor junior nursing staff, offering guidance and support.
- Participate in ward rounds and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Adhere strictly to infection control protocols and hospital policies.
- Demonstrate empathy and provide emotional support to patients and their families.
Required Skills
- Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN)
- Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in a hospital ward setting
- Proven ability to manage diverse patient caseloads
- Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Proficiency in administering medications and performing medical procedures
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Knowledge of patient safety protocols and quality improvement initiatives
- Basic computer literacy for electronic health records (EHR)
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.N.Sc.) degree
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Specialization or certification in a specific ward area (e.g., Medical-Surgical, Geriatrics)
- Experience with electronic health record systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
