Job Description

Are you an experienced and compassionate Ward Nurse ready to make a significant impact in a leading healthcare institution? Primus International Super Speciality Hospital, Abuja, is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our dynamic ward team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in delivering holistic, high-quality patient care within our general wards. You will be responsible for assessing patient needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans, administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for recovery. This position requires a proactive approach to patient management, excellent clinical judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of doctors, specialists, and other healthcare professionals. You will also be a key point of contact for patients and their families, providing essential education, support, and reassurance throughout their hospital stay. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about nursing, committed to continuous learning, and possesses the leadership qualities to mentor junior staff and uphold the highest standards of patient safety and care. Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in the ward setting.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, accurately and safely.
  • Monitor and record patients' vital signs, symptoms, and medical information.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and adjust treatment plans.
  • Provide patient and family education on health conditions, medications, and self-care techniques.
  • Ensure the cleanliness, safety, and organization of the ward environment.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and initiate appropriate interventions.
  • Supervise and mentor junior nursing staff, offering guidance and support.
  • Participate in ward rounds and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Adhere strictly to infection control protocols and hospital policies.
  • Demonstrate empathy and provide emotional support to patients and their families.

Required Skills

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN)
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in a hospital ward setting
  • Proven ability to manage diverse patient caseloads
  • Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficiency in administering medications and performing medical procedures
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Knowledge of patient safety protocols and quality improvement initiatives
  • Basic computer literacy for electronic health records (EHR)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.N.Sc.) degree
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Specialization or certification in a specific ward area (e.g., Medical-Surgical, Geriatrics)
  • Experience with electronic health record systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
  • Leadership experience or charge nurse responsibilities
