Job Description

We are seeking a visionary and experienced Editor to lead our editorial team and uphold the esteemed reputation of National Light Newspaper. This pivotal role demands a leader with exceptional journalistic acumen, a profound understanding of the media landscape in Nigeria, and a commitment to publishing compelling, accurate, and relevant content for our diverse readership. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall editorial direction, content strategy, and quality control across our print and digital platforms. You will be instrumental in identifying key stories, commissioning features, overseeing investigations, and managing the editorial workflow from conception to publication. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the editorial budget, resources, and workflow to optimize efficiency and productivity.
  • Identify key news trends, emerging issues, and compelling stories relevant to Awka, Anambra State, and national discourse.
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., advertising, circulation, digital) to achieve overall organizational goals.
  • Represent the newspaper at public events, industry forums, and engage with community stakeholders.
  • Monitor news cycles and competitor publications to maintain a competitive edge and identify opportunities for unique content.
  • Drive digital content initiatives, including website updates, social media engagement, and multimedia storytelling.
