Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough and comprehensive patient assessments, including meticulous history taking and detailed physical examinations.
- Formulate accurate differential diagnoses and develop appropriate, evidence-based treatment plans under the supervision of senior consultants.
- Order and meticulously interpret a wide range of diagnostic tests, including advanced laboratory investigations and complex imaging studies.
- Administer medications safely and precisely, and competently perform minor medical procedures as required.
- Continuously monitor patient progress, meticulously documenting all observations, interventions, and responses accurately in electronic medical records.
- Actively participate in daily ward rounds, multidisciplinary team meetings, and in-depth case discussions.
- Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, initiating appropriate resuscitative measures and coordinating critical care.
- Communicate empathetically and effectively with patients and their families, providing clear, concise, and understandable explanations of conditions, prognoses, and treatment options.
- Assist senior medical staff in various surgical procedures and specialized clinical interventions, demonstrating sterile technique and surgical assistance skills.
- Ensure strict adherence to all hospital protocols, clinical guidelines, best practice standards, and ethical considerations.
- Actively contribute to ongoing medical education, continuous professional development, and quality improvement initiatives within the hospital.
- Provide cross-cover for other units or departments as needed, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.
Required Skills
- MBBS/MBBCh or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
- Full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
- Completed NYSC (National Youth Service Corps).
- Demonstrable clinical proficiency in general medicine and emergency care.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-NYSC experience in a reputable hospital setting.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
