Job Description

Cedarcrest Hospitals is inviting applications for the vital role of Resident Medical Officer (RMO). As an RMO, you will be an integral part of our multidisciplinary healthcare team, responsible for providing exceptional medical care to patients across a spectrum of specialties, operating under the expert supervision of senior consultants. This role demands strong clinical acumen, outstanding communication skills, and a steadfast commitment to patient safety and holistic well-being. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough and comprehensive patient assessments, including meticulous history taking and detailed physical examinations.
  • Formulate accurate differential diagnoses and develop appropriate, evidence-based treatment plans under the supervision of senior consultants.
  • Order and meticulously interpret a wide range of diagnostic tests, including advanced laboratory investigations and complex imaging studies.
  • Administer medications safely and precisely, and competently perform minor medical procedures as required.
  • Continuously monitor patient progress, meticulously documenting all observations, interventions, and responses accurately in electronic medical records.
  • Actively participate in daily ward rounds, multidisciplinary team meetings, and in-depth case discussions.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, initiating appropriate resuscitative measures and coordinating critical care.
  • Communicate empathetically and effectively with patients and their families, providing clear, concise, and understandable explanations of conditions, prognoses, and treatment options.
  • Assist senior medical staff in various surgical procedures and specialized clinical interventions, demonstrating sterile technique and surgical assistance skills.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all hospital protocols, clinical guidelines, best practice standards, and ethical considerations.
  • Actively contribute to ongoing medical education, continuous professional development, and quality improvement initiatives within the hospital.
  • Provide cross-cover for other units or departments as needed, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.

Required Skills

  • MBBS/MBBCh or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
  • Full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
  • Completed NYSC (National Youth Service Corps).
  • Demonstrable clinical proficiency in general medicine and emergency care.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-NYSC experience in a reputable hospital setting.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
