The National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA) invites dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to apply for the position of Entry-Level Lab Technician in our dynamic Research & Development department. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare samples, reagents, and media according to standard operating procedures (SOPs) for various research experiments.
- Perform basic laboratory tests and analyses under the supervision of senior researchers, accurately recording observations and results.
- Maintain laboratory equipment through routine cleaning, calibration, and basic troubleshooting, reporting any malfunctions promptly.
- Assist in the collection, organization, and preliminary analysis of experimental data, ensuring accuracy and integrity.
- Strictly adhere to laboratory safety protocols, quality control procedures, and ethical guidelines at all times.
- Manage laboratory inventory, including tracking supplies, reagents, and samples, and assisting with procurement processes.
- Maintain detailed and organized laboratory notebooks and electronic records of experiments and results.
- Assist with general laboratory housekeeping to ensure a clean, safe, and organized working environment.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions regarding experimental design and results.
- Support senior researchers in the preparation of reports, presentations, and scientific publications.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree or HND in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
- Strong understanding of basic laboratory techniques and safety principles.
- Excellent attention to detail and precision in executing experimental procedures.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Eagerness to learn new scientific concepts and laboratory methodologies.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior internship or volunteer experience in a research or analytical laboratory setting.
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or similar data management tools.
- Basic knowledge of statistical analysis for scientific data.
- Demonstrated interest in biotechnology and its applications in Nigerian context.
