Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist them with product inquiries, locating items, and making selections.
- Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using point-of-sale (POS) systems, handling cash and card payments.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing store environment, including shelving, aisles, and checkout areas, ensuring a pleasant shopping experience for all.
- Stock shelves, rotate products to ensure freshness, and ensure all items are correctly priced and clearly displayed.
- Assist with receiving and unpacking new inventory deliveries, checking for discrepancies and damages, and accurately storing items.
- Handle customer complaints and returns with professionalism, empathy, and a problem-solving approach to ensure satisfaction.
- Support inventory management tasks, including regular stock counts, monitoring shelf life, and assisting with reordering processes.
- Adhere strictly to all company policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations to ensure a safe and secure environment for staff and customers.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to achieve daily operational goals and ensure smooth store operations.
- Actively participate in training sessions and team meetings to enhance product knowledge, improve service skills, and stay updated on promotions.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage positively with a diverse customer base.
- Strong customer service orientation with a friendly, approachable, and helpful demeanor.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment, especially during peak hours.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills are essential for handling transactions, reading labels, and basic record-keeping.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift and move moderate weights (up to 15 kg), and perform repetitive tasks such as stocking and cleaning.
- Reliability and punctuality are paramount for this immediate start role, ensuring consistent store coverage.
- Basic computer literacy for operating POS systems and other store-related software.
- Proven ability to work independently as well as part of a cohesive team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience (at least 6 months) in a retail, customer service, or sales role, demonstrating a familiarity with retail operations.
- Secondary school certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Familiarity with various product categories typically found in a supermarket setting.
- Proficiency in Kinyarwanda and English (fluency in French is considered an added advantage).
