Job Description
We are seeking a highly creative and skilled Adire Textile Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of traditional Adire techniques and a passion for innovation. This role requires a strong artistic vision, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to translate design concepts into stunning, high-quality textiles. You will be responsible for designing and developing new Adire patterns and motifs, working closely with artisans and production teams to ensure the successful execution of your designs. The role involves both independent design work and collaborative efforts to meet production deadlines and maintain consistent quality standards. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the preservation and evolution of this iconic Nigerian textile art form.
Key Responsibilities
- Conceptualizing and designing new Adire textile patterns and motifs.
- Collaborating with artisans and production teams to translate designs into finished products.
- Maintaining a high level of quality and consistency in all designs and production processes.
- Researching and staying up-to-date on current trends and innovations in textile design.
- Presenting design proposals and concepts to stakeholders.
- Managing design projects from conception to completion, meeting deadlines and budget constraints.
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and suppliers.
- Contributing to the overall marketing and promotion of Adire textiles.
Required Skills
- Proficient in various Adire techniques (e.g., indigo dyeing, tie-dye, resist dyeing).
- Strong artistic skills and a keen eye for detail.
- Experience in textile design and pattern making.
- Ability to translate design concepts into technical specifications.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Textile Design, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in textile design, with a focus on Adire.
- Experience working with artisans and production teams.
