We are actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Industrial Wiring Electrician (Contractor) to join our dynamic team for various projects located in Dutse Alhaji, Abuja, and its surrounding industrial zones. Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, wiring, conduits, equipment, and fixtures in industrial settings according to blueprints, schematics, and relevant local and international electrical codes.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic tests on complex industrial machinery and control systems (e.g., PLCs, VFDs, motor control centers) to accurately identify and effectively resolve electrical issues.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, and other electrical components, ensuring proper grounding, secure connections, and compliance with safety standards.
- Routinely inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify potential hazards, existing defects, and the necessity for adjustment, repair, or replacement, ensuring continuous compliance with all applicable codes.
- Read and accurately interpret detailed technical drawings, intricate wiring diagrams, and comprehensive specifications to plan the layout and execute the installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Adhere strictly to all national and international safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards, including rigorous Lockout/Tagout procedures, to maintain an impeccably safe working environment at all times.
- Conduct thorough preventive maintenance on industrial electrical equipment to minimize unexpected downtime, optimize operational efficiency, and extend the overall lifespan of machinery.
- Prepare clear, detailed reports of work performed, materials used, identified issues, and recommended future actions.
- Collaborate effectively and professionally with project engineers, project managers, and other technical personnel to ensure seamless project execution and timely completion.
Required Skills
- Proven extensive expertise in industrial electrical wiring, installation, and maintenance techniques.
- Strong foundational and practical knowledge of industrial control systems, including PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), and advanced motor control circuits.
- Proficiency in accurately reading and interpreting complex electrical blueprints, detailed schematics, and comprehensive technical manuals.
- In-depth understanding of national and international electrical codes and safety standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, local Nigerian standards).
- Excellent analytical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for complex electrical malfunctions and system failures.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and effectively prioritize time on project-based assignments.
- High level of safety consciousness and unwavering adherence to strict Lockout/Tagout procedures and other safety protocols.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical information clearly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Possession of a recognized professional certification in industrial electrical technology or a closely related field.
- Documented experience with high-voltage industrial systems and power generation equipment.
- Familiarity with hazardous location wiring and instrumentation, including ATEX/IECEx standards.
- Knowledge of industrial automation systems, SCADA, and process control systems.
- Prior successful experience working as a contractor on large-scale industrial construction or renovation projects.
