Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead photographers with setup, execution, and breakdown of photography sessions for events and portraits.
- Manage and organize camera equipment, ensuring it is clean, charged, and in proper working order before and after shoots.
- Aid in creative lighting solutions, including setting up flashes, reflectors, and natural light modifiers.
- Help subjects feel comfortable, guide posing, and manage expectations during portrait sessions.
- Capture behind-the-scenes footage or additional angles as directed by the lead photographer during events.
- Support during live event photography to ensure comprehensive coverage and seamless workflow.
- Maintain a professional and positive demeanor when interacting with resort guests, staff, and clients.
- Perform basic post-production tasks such as culling and preliminary photo selections if required.
- Adhere to resort guidelines, brand standards, and client requirements for all photography assignments.
- Collaborate effectively with the marketing and events teams to understand project briefs and objectives.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in operating DSLR or mirrorless cameras in manual mode.
- Basic understanding of photographic principles (aperture, shutter speed, ISO, composition).
- Experience with natural light manipulation and basic artificial lighting setups.
- Strong organizational skills for efficient equipment management and studio/on-location setup.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse individuals.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- High level of attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics and visual storytelling.
- Flexibility and adaptability to various shooting environments and changing schedules.
- Fluency in English (verbal and written).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience (e.g., internship, assistant role) in event, portrait, or hospitality photography.
- Basic knowledge of photo editing software, particularly Adobe Lightroom.
- A foundational understanding of video recording principles.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic camera and lighting equipment issues.
- A personal photography portfolio demonstrating creative vision and technical skills (even amateur projects).
- Familiarity with the hospitality industry and luxury resort environments.
- Proficiency in Kinyarwanda is considered a significant asset.
