Job Description

Are you an experienced and proactive leader with a passion for operational excellence in a manufacturing setting? Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Factory Supervisor to oversee our production line operations during shift work in Katampe, Abuja. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth, efficient, and safe execution of production targets, maintaining stringent quality standards, and fostering a productive environment for your team. This position demands a keen eye for detail, strong leadership capabilities, and a commitment to continuous improvement. You will be responsible for supervising a team of production operators, coordinating workflows, troubleshooting operational issues, and implementing company policies and procedures on the factory floor. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of production line workers across assigned shifts, ensuring optimal utilization of resources and adherence to schedules.
  • Ensure production targets and schedules are met efficiently, within quality specifications, and cost-effectively, reporting on output and performance.
  • Monitor equipment performance, identify potential issues, and coordinate proactively with the maintenance team for timely repairs to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Implement and enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, company policies, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to maintain a secure and compliant work environment.
  • Conduct regular quality checks on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods, taking immediate corrective actions as necessary to uphold product integrity and standards.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate production staff, identifying development needs, providing constructive feedback, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Prepare detailed production reports, including output, downtime, waste, and quality metrics, for management review and informed operational decision-making.
  • Manage inventory of production materials and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels for continuous operation and preventing costly stockouts or delays.
  • Resolve operational problems and personnel issues on the production floor promptly and effectively, fostering a collaborative and harmonious work atmosphere.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, optimize production processes, and introduce innovative solutions for operational excellence.
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments, including Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Engineering, and Logistics, to ensure seamless operations and achieve cross-functional objectives.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (at least 4 years) in a supervisory role within a high-volume manufacturing or production environment, preferably in FMCG or food processing.
  • Strong understanding of production processes, equipment operation, and stringent quality control principles.
  • Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse workforce effectively.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues effectively, minimizing disruption to production flows.
  • Proficiency in interpreting production data, analyzing performance metrics, and preparing comprehensive reports for management.
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, local standards) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, demanding, and shift-based operational environment.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities under pressure, with a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel) and familiarity with production management software or ERP systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical), Industrial Management, Production Management, or a related technical field.
  • Certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Direct experience in the food processing, sugar refining, or similar consumer goods industry.
  • Knowledge and practical experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for production planning and inventory management.
  • Valid First Aid and Safety certification.
