Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Farm Manager to oversee our large-scale agricultural operations in Sokoto. This pivotal role involves the comprehensive management of all farm activities, ensuring optimal productivity, sustainable practices, and adherence to the highest quality standards. The Farm Manager will be responsible for strategic planning, operational execution, financial oversight, and team leadership across diverse agricultural ventures, which may include crop cultivation (e.g., rice, maize, sorghum) and potentially livestock integration. Sokoto’s unique climatic and soil conditions present both challenges and opportunities, requiring a manager with profound agricultural knowledge, adaptability, and a proactive approach. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of modern farming techniques, including irrigation systems, pest management, soil health, and mechanization, specifically tailored to large-scale operations in a Nigerian context. You will drive innovation, optimize resource utilization, and ensure the farm contributes significantly to Flour Mills of Nigeria’s overarching goals of food security and agricultural excellence. This role demands a hands-on leader who can inspire a team, manage complex logistics, and consistently deliver results in a dynamic agricultural environment. Your contribution will be crucial in expanding our output, enhancing efficiency, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and sustainability on the farm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive farm management plans, including crop rotation, planting schedules, irrigation, harvesting, and post-harvest operations.
  • Oversee day-to-day farm activities, ensuring efficient resource allocation (labor, machinery, inputs) and adherence to operational targets.
  • Manage and maintain farm infrastructure, machinery, and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards.
  • Implement and monitor integrated pest and disease management programs, and ensure soil health and fertility through sustainable practices.
  • Develop and manage the farm budget, control expenditures, and optimize profitability.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate farm personnel, fostering a productive and safe working environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all agricultural regulations, environmental protection laws, and company policies.
  • Analyze farm data to identify areas for improvement, implement new technologies, and enhance overall farm productivity and sustainability.
  • Prepare regular reports on farm performance, financial results, and operational challenges for senior management.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, including suppliers, contractors, and local communities, to ensure smooth farm operations and community relations.
