Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced HR Officer specializing in Employee Relations to join our dynamic corporate Human Resources team in Wuye, Abuja. This pivotal role will be instrumental in fostering a positive and productive work environment by managing and resolving employee relations issues, ensuring compliance with labor laws and company policies, and promoting a culture of respect and fairness. The successful candidate will be the primary point of contact for employees regarding workplace concerns, grievances, and disciplinary matters, providing expert advice and support to both staff and management. You will be responsible for conducting thorough investigations, mediating conflicts, and recommending appropriate resolutions that align with our corporate values and legal requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee grievances, disciplinary issues, and workplace conflicts, ensuring fair and consistent application of company policies and procedures.
- Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into employee complaints, allegations of misconduct, and other employee relations matters, documenting findings and recommending appropriate actions.
- Provide expert guidance and support to employees and management on HR policies, labor laws, and best practices related to employee relations.
- Mediate disputes between employees and/or between employees and management, working towards constructive resolutions that maintain positive working relationships.
- Collaborate with legal counsel on complex employee relations cases, ensuring compliance with all relevant labor laws and regulations.
- Develop and deliver training sessions on employee relations topics, including conflict resolution, harassment prevention, and ethical conduct.
- Assist in the development, review, and implementation of HR policies and procedures to ensure they are current, compliant, and supportive of a positive work environment.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of all employee relations cases, investigations, and resolutions.
- Contribute to initiatives aimed at enhancing employee engagement, satisfaction, and overall workplace culture.
- Prepare reports and analyses on employee relations trends, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in an HR role with a significant focus on employee relations.
- In-depth knowledge of Nigerian labor laws and regulations (e.g., Labour Act, Pension Reform Act).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain a high level of professionalism.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct objective investigations and provide fair resolutions.
- Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
- Professional certification in Human Resources (e.g., CIPM, HRCI, SHRM).
- Experience working in the banking or financial services industry.
- Familiarity with alternative dispute resolution techniques.
