Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee daily accounting operations related to corporate finance activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare comprehensive financial statements, reports, and analyses for internal management and external regulatory bodies.
  • Participate in the budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support strategic initiatives, investment decisions, and capital allocation.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes impacting the bank's financial health.
  • Ensure strict adherence to accounting standards (IFRS), corporate policies, and regulatory requirements (CBN).
  • Collaborate with internal audit and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of financial controls, policies, and procedures to enhance efficiency and mitigate risks.
  • Support treasury functions, including cash flow management, liquidity analysis, and foreign exchange reporting.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to their professional development.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a corporate finance-focused role.
  • Proven experience with financial reporting, analysis, and budgeting.
  • Strong understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Nigerian accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle Financials).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial information clearly.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Membership in a recognized professional accounting body (ICAN, ACCA, CPA, CIMA).
  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience working in the banking or financial services industry.
  • Previous experience with 'Big Four' accounting firms.
